Our learning approach

“…increasingly the world does not care what you know. Everything is on Google. The world only cares, and will only pay for, what you can do with what you know. … Therefore, we have to get beyond the current system of information and delivery — the professorial “sage on the stage” and students taking notes, followed by a superficial assessment, to one in which students are asked and empowered…”

Here at GIS (Gateway International School) we are committed to developing our students into successful, self-regulated, lifelong learners. We believe in success that extends past our students’ exams into further education, their careers and how they interact with, and affect, the world around them. To that end, one of our key foci is on extending our students’ capacity to learn.

GIS is more than just an international school. Your children will design their future, as well as ours, and as a result our goal is to get our students to design their own education. We want them to leave GIS with the creativity, skills and resilience to find solutions to even the hardest challenges and to be able to contribute, rather than consume, and participate in the world with confidence across social and economic boundaries.

At GIS we supplement our classroom learning with educational, cultural, and active field trips and camps to help learning come alive. Our students will engage in cross-curricular studies that involve coding, robotics, mechanical design and engineering problem solving as an integral part of their learning. We also support interactive learning through the use of VR (Virtual Reality) education. In addition, both our young and older students have the chance to become “Young Entrepreneurs” and develop their business skills.
